An agreement was signed on August 1, 2013 in the company seat of Deep Ocean Technology (DOT) Gdynia, between DOT and Polish Register of Shipping on PRS participation in creating a both underwater and above water facility for scientific purposes. This structure is to be the key component of the renown DOT project for the construction of “an underwater and above water facility for accommodation and exploration of sea and ocean depths”, i.e. the underwater hotel Water Discus project which stirs so much public interest.
The design project of the under and above water facility for scientific purposes is realised in cooperation with several subcontractors, including Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology, Gdańsk Technical University, and the Gdańsk based company StoGda Ship Design & Engineering. PRS role in the project involves advisory services and supervision of the design process performed by StoGda Ship Design & Engineering.
The meeting in DOT premises for signing the agreement was attended by: Piotr Niewiński, President of DOT Management Board, Ireneusz Sajewicz, Vice President of DOT Management Board, Krzysztof Koniuszaniec and Robert Burniewicz, Project Managers, and on behalf of PRS: Dariusz Rudziński, President of the PRS Management Board and Janusz Dilling, PRS Director of Industrial Supervision Division.
The company Deep Ocean Technology has already signed its first commercial contract for sale and delivery of a Water Discus Hotel in the Republic of the Maldives. Talks are in progress on constructing such a facility in Dubai.
