Work has just been completed on the second wharf at the external port in Świnoujście, PORR Poland has announced. The additional infrastructure will benefit both large gas carriers and smaller vessels needed for LNG redistribution. Intensive work is currently underway to install the technology for transferring natural gas from the quay to storage tanks in the gas port.

A new ship quay created at the Świnoujście gas port, along with a flyover, leads to the third LNG storage tank. The investment is expected to allow mooring, berthing, loading and unloading of smaller LNG tankers.

Vice President of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, Daniel Stachiewicz said that the investment will ultimately allow regasification of more than 8 billion cubic meters of gas per year, which is about 1/3 of the natural gas needed to supply the Polish economy, both businesses and households.

The expansion of the marine part, together with Gaz-System, is being carried out by the Szczecin and Świnoujście Sea Ports Authority, and the general contractor for the investment is a consortium of PORR S.A. and TGE Gas Engineering.
