The Polish Register of Shipping (Polski Rejestr Statków/PRS) and DNV have officially signed a cooperation agreement, marking the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership in the offshore wind energy sector. Under the agreement, the two organisations will join forces to participate in joint tender procedures for comprehensive project certification services covering upcoming offshore wind farm developments in Poland’s Baltic Sea zone.

The agreement provides a foundation for building a lasting, long-term synergy between a leading global certification body and a Polish classification society with extensive local maritime and industrial heritage.

Leveraging Complementary Strengths

The cooperation brings together two highly respected technical institutions, combining DNV’s internationally recognised standards and specialist expertise in renewable energy with PRS’s established knowledge of the local maritime environment, regulatory framework and technical supervision capabilities.

Through this joint initiative, both organisations aim to offer project developers a highly structured, rigorous and fully compliant approach to certification at all stages of offshore wind investment projects.

Strengthening the Domestic Supply Chain and Industrial Capabilities

In addition to its direct commercial objectives, this strategic alliance plays a key role in developing domestic industrial capacity. Integrating global expertise with Polish technical infrastructure means that PRS and DNV are actively contributing to the development of local capabilities within the rapidly growing supply chain for offshore wind energy in Poland and, more broadly, across the Baltic Sea region.

“This agreement represents an important milestone for PRS as we continue to develop our technical activities in the renewable offshore energy sector. The partnership with DNV allows us to combine complementary expertise, ensuring that upcoming offshore wind farm projects benefit from both world-class international standards and strong domestic technical supervision,” said Krzysztof Topolski, Director of the Industrial Supervision Division at PRS.

“Cooperation with PRS reflects our commitment to supporting the regional energy transition through robust, independent certification. Together, we present a comprehensive value proposition that combines global practices with a local presence to ensure the safety, reliability and technical integrity of offshore projects in the Baltic" – said Mette Redanz, Vice President for Renewable Energy Certification at DNV.

A Long-Term Vision for Baltic Wind Infrastructure

The Baltic Sea is rapidly becoming one of the most dynamic centres for offshore wind energy development in Europe. The partnership between PRS and DNV creates a reliable platform supporting energy developers, investors and regulators in achieving the highest standards of safety, quality and technical performance in the years to come.
