Baltic Hub: 23% Increase in Throughput Recorded in 2025
Date of publication: 27.01.2026

In 2025, the Baltic Hub container terminal in Gdańsk recorded a significant increase in throughput, driven by the commissioning of the T3 quay. Baltic Hub reported total throughput of 2,767,287 TEU in 2025, handled across 763 vessel calls, of which 265 were deep-sea vessels.

The annual volume of 2,767,287 TEU represents a 23.4% year-on-year increase compared with 2024, when the terminal handled 2,242,401 TEU. This marks the highest annual throughput in the terminal’s history.

A key factor underpinning the substantial increase was the opening of the T3 quay, officially inaugurated in June 2025, although initial vessel operations commenced earlier. The addition of T3 increased the terminal’s annual handling capacity by 1.5 million TEU, bringing total capacity to 4.5 million TEU.

Baltic Hub’s record performance has translated directly into record aggregate container throughput across Polish ports, as highlighted in an interview with Gospodarka Morska by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marchewka. The Gdańsk facility remains by far the largest container terminal in Poland and the Baltic region.

“We have achieved an absolute record in terms of container volumes handled at Polish ports, representing an increase of more than 15%. Never before in the history of Polish ports have so many containers been handled,” said Marchewka.

Although final figures from other ports and terminals are not yet available, total growth in containerised cargo throughput nationwide may ultimately exceed the 15% increase referenced by the Deputy Minister.

In 2025, Baltic Hub also set several additional operational records. On 10 October, the terminal handled its 25 millionth TEU since the commencement of operations. A new single-vessel handling record was established during the call of the OOCL Japan, with 20,962 TEU handled. The total number of container vessel calls — 763 — also constitutes a record high. Rail operations likewise played a significant role, with Baltic Hub handling 9,362 trains during the year, more than 1,100 additional services compared with 2024.
