
On 6-7 November in Malmö a Conference called “Get smarter together in the Baltic Sea Region – taking innovation and smart specialization across borders” took place. Gdynia Maritime University and Polish Maritime Cluster took part in it as the members of MARCHAIN/STARDUST project and were represented by: prof. Marek Grzybowski, PhD Arkadiusz Mazurkiewicz, PhD Michał Igielski, PhD Magda Leszczyna-Rzucidło, MA Marta Czarnecka-Gallas.
During the Conference the outcomes of joint research and implementation activities realized within STARDUST project were presented. It encompassed five projects, including project MARCHAIN, within which the employees of Gdynia Maritime University elaborated two projects and many initiatives promoting the Baltic Sea Region. One of the new projects, elaborated with MARCHAIN partners is “ BSR-COR”. Its basic aim is to create intermodal transport corridors in the region. Another project is called “Baltic Promise” and its goal is to identify and present common CSR standards for enterprises in the BSR. Moreover, the employees of Gdynia Maritime University promoted Baltic Sea Region on European Sea Day 2013, yearly meeting of European Network of Maritime Clusters and on Intermodal Europe 2013. The Team from Poland have also undertaken an initiative of building the network of Baltic Sea Region maritime clusters.
During the Conference in Malmö a working meeting in order to generate new transport project was held with potential partners. The participants decided to meet in December to discuss the details of cooperation and funding possibilities. Furthermore, it has been agreed that in December the meeting of VINOVA representatives and Stardust Swedish and Polish partners will take place in Sopot/Gdynia.
