Bilfinger Tebodin achieves milestone in cooperation with Intel

Bilfinger Tebodin manages the construction of the Intel Technology Poland Research and Development Center IGK6 in Gdańsk, Poland. In March 2023, Bilfinger Tebodin received an occupational permit and it ended an important period in the history of the project. 

Intel is one of the leading technological and international companies. The construction of the new center started in December 2020. The project is aimed to construct the most innovative and smart Research & Development building, to allow Intel to advance in areas, related to the evolvement of technologies that increase the efficiency of data center infrastructure and expand the possibilities of using artificial intelligence. 

“Bilfinger Tebodin acted as the owner`s engineer of the whole project and supported Intel throughout the entire process in terms of technical, organizational, and management services. At the current stage of work, having the occupancy permit, Bilfinger Tebodin can start the final commissioning part and preparation of the building for handover from contractor to client”, says Piotr Kolmetz, Business Development Manager at Bilfinger Tebodin in Poland. The planned completion time of the new Intel center is June 2023.

“Bilfinger Tebodin is a professional EPCM partner, sustaining and improving existing buildings, as well as providing capabilities and expertise to design new buildings and centers from the areas of electronic technologies. Reaching this phase of the project for such a demanding client shows it the best,” adds Kamilia Konopko, Project Manager at Bilfinger Tebodin.

While doing management and technical supervision for the new Intel center, Bilfinger Tebodin followed FIDIC engineer services standards. These are international standards of contracts for the performance of construction works used by professionals.

Receiving LEED PLATINUM 

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a green building certification program used worldwide. The Intel project obtained the LEED certificate at the Platinum level. Carrying out the certification process was one of the contractual duties of General Contractor. Bilfinger Tebodin was not involved directly in this activity. The firm monitored the certification process and supported the client.

A high-tech project

A new facility will be constructed providing appropriate working conditions for specialists and full equipment with a research IT infrastructure that will ensure the possibility of carrying out advanced work in the field of technical innovations of global importance and the highest global competitiveness. As a result of the work carried out in the new center, groundbreaking, prototype innovations of global importance will be developed, and will be implemented in solutions offered on the global market by entities from the Intel Group.
