Date of publication: 16.05.2025

On 13 May 2025, CRIST S.A. Shipyard in Gdynia hosted a ceremonial keel-laying for the state-of-the-art offshore support vessel SeaDragon (hull number NB110). The event marks a significant milestone in the project, which is pivotal for the continued development of the offshore sector.

SeaDragon is a technologically advanced vessel designed to support offshore drilling platforms, including the safe transfer of personnel. The vessel will be equipped with a Walk2Work system, facilitating efficient transfer between the vessel and offshore installations. In addition, the implementation of a DP3-class dynamic positioning system and advanced navigation technologies will ensure precise manoeuvring, even in challenging sea conditions.

The vessel will measure 109.7 metres in length and 22 metres in beam, with accommodation for up to 164 personnel. Onboard, two 1 MWh battery systems will be installed, contributing significantly to reducing the vessel’s carbon footprint.

The project is being executed on behalf of the shipowner DOF, with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The technical and classification documentation for the vessel has been prepared by Gdynia-based MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting. StoGda Ship Design and Engineering is also involved in the project, responsible for the development of the detailed working documentation.

The keel-laying ceremony brought together representatives of the shipowner and key project partners, underlining the strategic importance of this investment for advancing modern offshore technologies.
