On May 13, 2025, CRIST S.A. shipyard in Gdynia held a ceremonial keel-laying for the modern offshore support vessel SeaDragon (hull number NB110). The event marks a significant milestone in a project crucial for the development of the offshore sector.
SeaDragon is a technologically advanced vessel designed to service offshore drilling platforms, including safe crew transfers. The ship will be equipped with a Walk2Work system, enabling efficient movement between the vessel and the platform. In addition, a DP3-class dynamic positioning system and advanced navigation systems will ensure precise maneuvering even in challenging sea conditions.
The vessel will measure 109.7 meters in length and 22 meters in width, with accommodation for 164 people. It will feature two 1 MWh battery packs, significantly reducing the ship’s carbon footprint.
The SeaDragon project is being built for the shipowner DOF, with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The design is handled by the Gdynia-based company MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting, which prepared the full technical and classification documentation. StoGda Ship Design and Engineering is also involved, responsible for developing the working documentation.
The keel-laying ceremony brought together representatives of the shipowner and key project partners, highlighting the importance of this investment for advancing modern technologies in the offshore sector.
