OOCL APPOINTS BCT AS ITS CONTAINER TERMINAL
Date of publication: 19.06.2010

OOCL (Ocean Overseas Container Line), one of the largest shipping and logistics operators in the world with its registered office in Hong Kong, starts to direct its container feeder ships to Baltic Container Terminal in Gdynia.

Thus, OOCL’s navigation operations, which have been conducted by the port in Gdansk, will be transferred to BCT. Presently, we envisage two arrivals per week and a real forecast provides for extension of the services in the future. The first ship directed by OOCL is due in BCT on 5 July 2010.

“We have the pleasure to inform that, with respect to long-year presence of OOCL in the Polish market, we decided to start cooperation with Baltic Container in Gdynia in July this year. The technological potential and high professional skills of the terminal staff will facilitate further development of OOCL in the Polish market”, said Leszek Walkusz, Country Manager of OOCL Polska.
“We are convinced that our cooperation with BCT will prove beneficial for all parties participating in the transport process.
The mission of OOCL is to provide its customers with best solutions with respect to technology and on the basis of integrated container and logistic transport services. The establishment of cooperation with BCT falls in line with the mission of our company.
We are convinced that the transfer of feeders providing their services as part of SBX Baltic service to Gdynia will certainly improve effectiveness and quality of the ship service.”

“The decision made by OOCL is an accolade to the level of services offered by our terminal”, emphasized Krzysztof Szymborski, President of Baltic Container Terminal in Gdynia. “We are pleased that our offer of OOCL ship service was accepted and, despite the recent turbulence in the container transport markets, it confirms a good and stable position of BCT among terminals operating in “Tri-city”. The decision made by this demanding operator confirms that our targets such as high quality of services rendered for customers such as ocean lines and forwarders, safety of entrusted containers and goods, high reloading rate for unloading and loading of ships and reliability supported by very good EDI tools at the highest world’s level – and all this for a reasonable prices, is a proper trend of activities in those demanding times for the container transport sector.”
