The ties between Poland and the port of Rotterdam become increasingly stronger thanks to numerous developments. Besides the many existing connections, more and more transport flows are being added. The rail service of ERS Railways between Poznan and Rotterdam, which commenced in May 2012, is a good example. This is not for nothing, because while the crisis spread around the world, the Polish economy grew by 18.5 per cent between 2008 and 2011. That makes Poland an interesting market for Rotterdam, but Rotterdam in turn can offer Poland a great deal. That is why a delegation from the port of Rotterdam will visit Poland from 17 to 20 September 2012, taking in the cities of Wroclaw, Sopot and Warsaw.
The ‘Port of Rotterdam: what is your benefit?’ seminar will be organised for all locations. Polish shippers and logistics service providers have been invited to these meetings. They will receive information about the opportunities of Rotterdam as a logistics, rail, deep-sea and short sea hub in Europe. A real-life example will demonstrate that Rotterdam is an option that can save Polish businesses money and time. Besides the seminar, the Polish guests can network with the affiliated port of Rotterdam business community. No fewer than 17 businesses are travelling to Poland to make contact with the Polish companies and reinforce the ties.
The Polish press is warmly welcomed to the meetings. The seminar will be held on 17 and 18 September in the Sofitel Old Town Hotel in Wroclaw, with the 17th intended especially for Asian companies in Poland. The meetings for 19 and 20 September are planned for the Sheraton Hotel in Sopot (exactly halfway between Gdańsk and Gdynia) and the InterContinental Hotel in Warsaw respectively. Rotterdam Port Promotion Council (RPPC) is hosting the events. The chairman of the RPPC, Mr Wim Van Sluis, and the other speakers are available to answer questions from the press. For a complete overview of the contents of the seminars, please see the attachment.
