
The BSR InnoShip Project, entered into by Polish Register of Shipping with the recommendation of the Ministry of Infrastructure in 2010, is recognized by the European Commission as part of the flagship project under Priority Area 4 in the EU Strategy and Action Plan for the Baltic Sea Region (BSR).
The Project is designed to expand transnational cooperation and joint actions to promote measures aimed at reducing pollution from Baltic shipping by developing knowledge and innovation-based competitiveness.
The project is also in line with the work plan of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the requirements of the Framework Directive on Marine Strategy of the European Union and the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan.
The BSR InnoShip project is designed to support joint efforts of countries and key maritime stakeholders to enhance integrated environmental management of the Baltic Sea region and jointly identify sustainable and concrete solutions for reducing and preventing shipping and port operations emissions to the atmosphere.
The Project output is to provide decision-makers, authorities and other key marine stakeholders with up-to-date knowledge and best practices in reducing emissions from shipping and port activities, information on projected solution risks and resulting economic implications, which are to transform the Baltic Sea region into a model region in terms of clean shipping, sustainable port management and competitive marine industry.
