The Czech Quay in Szczecin will be ready in June

The Norwegian, Czech, and Danish quays will soon become important parts of the Port of Szczecin. Fourteen out of sixteen sections of the Czech Quay have already been concreted, allowing for the opening of the first stage in the summer season. The construction works are being carried out by NDI Group on all fronts of the project.

In the first stage of the Czech Quay construction, the concrete and track works are nearing completion. The railway and crane tracks have been laid.

"We plan to obtain the occupancy permit for the first stage of the Czech Quay in June of this year. Simultaneously, after receiving the permit, we will proceed to the second stage of the Czech Quay expansion, followed by the third and fourth stages. Initially, we will carry out demolition works, followed by concrete works both from land and water," says Piotr Arabczyk, Project Director from NDI Group.

Concrete works are also being performed on the Norwegian Quay, with over 60 workers involved. The team will commence track works in July. Meanwhile, the progress of the Danish Quay construction has reached 99%.

The Dębicki Canal is still being dredged, and the excavated material is being deposited on Ostrów Mieleński Island. Dredging works have been completed for approximately 0.6 million cubic meters out of the total 1.5 million cubic meters. Additionally, the installation of telecommunications, power, and water supply systems is ongoing. The storage area on the island will have a capacity of approximately 1 million cubic meters. Once all dredging works are completed, the canal will reach a depth of 12.5 meters. This will continue the waterway that starts in Świnoujście.

"Most of the works are still in progress. The Czech and Slovak Quays are divided into so-called stages, and each subsequent stage can only begin after obtaining the occupancy permit for the previous one. This division is necessary because the Port needs to remain operational throughout the reconstruction," adds Piotr Arabczyk, Project Director from NDI Group. This investment is one of the flagship projects carried out by ZMPSiŚ in the Port of Szczecin. Its aim is to improve access to the port in the Dębicki Canal area. The modernization of the quays will ensure that they meet the parameters required to handle the largest vessels.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment. The total cost is approximately 343.1 million Polish zloty gross. The tasks are undertaken by the Management of Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports, with NDI Group as the general contractor.
