Container carrier Viasea Shipping has announced that its vessels will resume calls at Gdynia Container Terminal (GCT) after a break of several months. During that period, the line had been operating via Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), the other container facility located across the port channel in Gdynia.
The company confirmed that, effective 28 February, all cargo operations will once again be handled through GCT. This marks a transfer of Viasea’s Gdynia services from BCT back to the GCT facility.
The move follows a change in the carrier’s ownership structure. Since the end of 2025, Viasea has formed part of the Ellerman City Liners group, whose vessels already call at GCT. The return to the terminal therefore consolidates port calls at a single location, a step expected to enhance operational efficiency and streamline cargo handling processes.
Viasea will not be an unfamiliar name at Gdynia Container Terminal. The carrier had previously called at the facility, with its inaugural vessel berthing there in June 2023. In autumn 2024, however, the line announced the transfer of its Gdynia operations to Baltic Container Terminal. The latest decision therefore marks a return to GCT.
Viasea’s short-sea service links Gdynia with Klaipėda, Oslo, Kristiansand, Immingham, Thamesport, Rotterdam and Moss, providing regular feeder and regional connections across the Baltic and North Sea markets.
