Another Piece of Equipment Delivered for the FSRU in the Gulf of Gdańsk

One of the key components of the regasification system has been delivered to the FSRU unit that is to be moored in the Gulf of Gdańsk. The equipment will be responsible for converting liquefied natural gas (LNG) into gas, which will then be fed into the national transmission network.

LNG delivered to the FSRU at a temperature of around -160°C will be heated to approximately 5°C. The process will use seawater as well as steam generated in gas-fired boilers installed on the unit.

The FSRU regasification systems will be capable of processing at least 783,500 cubic metres of gas per hour. The terminal is expected to provide approximately 6.1 billion cubic metres of additional annual regasification capacity. Once the second FSRU unit is commissioned, this capacity is expected to increase to more than 12 billion cubic metres per year.

The investment is intended to increase the security of gas supplies to Poland and the region and strengthen the country’s position as a regional gas hub.

The first FSRU terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk is being developed simultaneously onshore and offshore. In 2026, works include the construction of the berth and a microtunnel for the subsea gas pipeline, while the onshore infrastructure along the Gdańsk–Gustorzyn route is expected to be largely completed by the end of the year. Work on the offshore section is due to be completed in 2027.

Meanwhile, the FSRU itself is being built in South Korea. It was launched in May 2026, and outfitting, system integration and testing are currently under way. The unit is scheduled to be accepted by the shipowner in the third quarter of 2027, with its arrival in Gdańsk planned for the fourth quarter of 2027.
