Lyten, a global leader in energy storage technologies and advanced materials, is steadily expanding its presence in Poland. A key element of this strategy is its production facility in Gdańsk, which is already playing an important role in the European supply chain for energy technologies.

The Lyten Dwa plant in Gdańsk serves both as a manufacturing centre and a research and development (R&D) hub. It specialises in the production of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), used among others in the energy sector, industry and critical infrastructure. The facility, covering approximately 25,000 square metres, is currently the largest plant of its kind in Europe.

The factory has been equipped with advanced technological lines and highly automated production processes. Its current manufacturing capacity reaches around 6 GWh per year, with the potential for further expansion to as much as 12 GWh in the future.

The development of the Gdańsk facility accelerated following Lyten’s acquisition of the assets of the former Northvolt Dwa plant. The integration of technologies and expertise has enabled the company to broaden its product portfolio, including energy storage systems and solutions supporting the development of energy and digital infrastructure.

The Gdańsk plant also forms the foundation of the company’s broader investment plans in Poland. Around the existing facility, Lyten Industrial Hub is planned – an industrial complex integrating manufacturing, digital technologies and solutions for the energy sector, artificial intelligence and defence industries.

The plant in Gdańsk is also developing new product lines, including lithium-sulphur batteries for applications in autonomous systems, drones and satellites, as well as advanced graphene-based materials used in construction and industry.

“We are entering a new era of infrastructure development that has the potential to meet the growing demand for electricity over the coming decades, as well as the needs of data centres supporting artificial intelligence and the defence sector,” said Dan Cook, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Lyten.

“Lyten is creating strategically located industrial hubs to combine the company’s advanced materials and battery energy storage systems with digital AI infrastructure. We believe that Poland possesses the right talent and infrastructure, and is open to public-private partnerships that will enable the creation and development of Lyten’s industrial hub in Gdańsk,” he added.

According to company representatives, the investment in Gdańsk is of key importance for the development of modern energy infrastructure in Europe and for the growth of the local industrial ecosystem. Planned production increases in 2026–2027 are expected to further strengthen the facility’s position as one of the most important centres for energy storage technologies in the region.
