
The containership Maersk Gironde, which collided with the car carrier SFL Composer in the Danish Straits on Sunday, August 5, has just arrived at Nauta Shiprepair Yard in Gdynia.
The 292-meter-long Maersk Gironde collided with SFL Composer on Sunday, August 5. The containership was en route from Wilhelmshaven to Gdańsk, while Composer was heading to a shipyard in Odense. The cause of the collision remains unknown, but both vessels sustained damage above the waterline. No injuries were reported, and no spills occurred.
On Tuesday, August 12, after being unloaded earlier at Baltic Hub, Maersk Gironde entered Nauta Shiprepair Yard in Gdynia, where repairs will be carried out. The company announced that the vessel, with a length of 292.08 meters, is the longest ship in the yard’s history.
