The container ship OOCL Japan has called at Baltic Hub, located in the Port of Gdańsk. Although this was already its 35th visit since 2017, this call was a special one. The vessel made its inaugural call as part of a new service, opening another chapter in direct connections between Asia and Poland.

The container ship called at Baltic Hub as part of the AEU7 service. This new service is operated by COSCO SHIPPING and OOCL. It is intended to expand direct connections between the Port of Gdańsk and key ports in China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. Both companies announced its launch in June this year.

OOCL Japan (IMO: 9776195) was built in 2017 and sails under the Hong Kong flag. The vessel is 399.9 metres long, 58.8 metres wide and has a draught of 16 metres. Its capacity is 21,413 TEU.

The vessel’s inaugural call at the Port of Gdańsk highlights the port’s importance to leading carriers, particularly as it forms part of direct maritime connections between Asia and Poland. The AEU7 service will call at the following ports: Gdańsk, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Klang, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Cai Mep, Singapore, Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Gdańsk again.

The new service operates alongside the existing AEU1 service, which also provides a direct maritime connection between Gdańsk and key ports in the Far East. According to COSCO and OOCL, its launch will significantly increase service availability and provide greater operational flexibility in response to the growing demands of a rapidly changing maritime transport and logistics market. The expanded offering is intended to enable an even better response to customers’ needs.
