The new centre will support the Group’s global operations in finance and data management. By the end of 2026, the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk is expected to have a team of around 100 specialists.

On 25 September 2026, Wärtsilä officially inaugurated its new Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk, a new business centre of the technology group. Located at Olivia Business Centre, the new hub will support the company’s global operations, including in the areas of finance and data management.

The launch of the centre marks another stage in Wärtsilä’s development in Gdańsk, where the company has been present for more than 30 years. Before the opening of the Business Centre, Wärtsilä employed around 350 people in the city in activities related to the maritime sector. The new unit expands the company’s local presence to include global business services capabilities.

The official opening was attended by members of Wärtsilä’s global leadership, including CEO Håkan Agnevall, CFO Arjen Berends, Antti Valtokari, Vice President of Wärtsilä Global Business Services, and Wojciech Krygowski, Head of the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk. Other invited guests included representatives of the Embassy of Finland in Poland, the City of Gdańsk and the Pomeranian regional authorities. During the event, the role of the new centre within the company’s global operating model and its importance for Wärtsilä’s further development in Poland were presented. The importance of Polish-Finnish cooperation and the ties connecting the two Baltic countries were also highlighted. Employees of the new centre were welcomed with the slogan “Welcome to Team Finland”.

Around 100 new jobs

The Gdańsk centre will focus on financial operations and data management, supporting Wärtsilä’s businesses around the world. The team will use modern corporate platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Basware AP and ServiceNow.

By the end of 2026, the centre’s team is expected to comprise around 100 employees. Wärtsilä is primarily looking for experienced specialists in financial operations and data management, with strong digital skills and experience in process improvement and transformation.

The company also plans to develop a team of experts specialising in automation and artificial intelligence. This will enable the new centre to focus not only on the day-to-day delivery of processes, but also on their continuous improvement and technology-driven transformation. The centre is expected to play an important role in developing efficient and future-ready business processes.

With a strong base of qualified finance professionals in the region, we plan to grow the Gdańsk team to around 100 employees by the end of 2026. They will support our businesses around the world,” said Håkan Agnevall, CEO of Wärtsilä.

As Wojciech Krygowski, Head of the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk, emphasises, the centre’s activities will not be limited to supporting day-to-day processes.

Wärtsilä’s second global centre

The Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk is the group’s second Global Business Services centre. The new unit complements the operations of Wärtsilä’s existing centre in Vaasa, Finland.

The choice of Gdańsk builds on the company’s established presence in the region and enables Wärtsilä to expand its access to specialists in finance, data, technology and process transformation. The new centre is also another element of the company’s long-term development in Poland.
