The Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, in cooperation with Saab, hosted a meeting at AmberExpo dedicated to fostering industrial and economic cooperation. The initiative aims to expand partnerships, including within the shipbuilding sector and the broader field of security.
During the event, participants discussed directions for further industrial collaboration and presented investment opportunities supported by the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone. The programme also included B2B meetings and matchmaking sessions, designed to create a platform for establishing partnerships and exchanging expertise.
“B2B meetings such as this one in Gdańsk are important to Saab in terms of strengthening cooperation with the Polish maritime industry. In this way, we build lasting relationships, gain a better understanding of local industrial capabilities, and explore opportunities to integrate additional Polish companies into our global supply chain. We greatly value our cooperation with the Polish shipbuilding sector, particularly for its high quality standards, timely delivery, effective communication, and contractual flexibility. To date, we have established highly productive cooperation with numerous Polish firms, with Remontowa Shipbuilding, HG Solutions, Famor, Base Group and MMC being just a few examples,” said Jyrki Kujansuu, President of Saab Technologies Poland.

According to Saab, initiatives of this nature create new opportunities to enhance joint competitiveness in international markets. This is of particular importance to the company in light of its ongoing cooperation with Poland. Key areas include the development of supply chains, the transfer of technology to Poland, and the utilisation of Polish industrial capabilities in both current and forthcoming projects. These include, inter alia, the ongoing construction of signals intelligence (SIGINT) vessels under the “Delfin” programme, as well as the planned contract for the delivery of submarines under the “Orka” programme.
Late last year, the Swedish company signed an agreement with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. regarding its intention to establish maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Poland for the future Polish A26 (Blekinge-class) submarines. Delivery of the first unit is expected by the end of 2030. In the interim, the Swedish government is to provide a leased A17-class submarine, HMS Södermanland, as a bridging solution. The key outstanding issue, however, remains the signing of the executive contract, which is expected to take place by the end of June this year.
