Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe Has Established its Headquarters in Gdańsk

Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) is strengthening its presence in the region designated for Poland’s first nuclear power plant. In line with the advancing investment programme, the company has opened a new office in Gdańsk and has resolved to relocate its registered headquarters to the Pomerania region.

The changes are a natural consequence of the project timetable and the underlying assumptions of the nuclear programme. They will also translate into intensified engagement and cooperation with regional authorities, public administration bodies, local government and the residents of Pomerania. As on-site works gather pace and meetings with Pomeranian businesses and public representatives become more frequent, the sustained presence of project teams in the region has become essential.

“We want the heart of this project to beat here — in Pomerania, close to the construction site. The opening of the company’s office is not merely a logistical step, but above all a clear signal to residents and local enterprises: we are here with you, building a local supply chain and jointly creating new, highly specialised jobs that will transform the region’s economic landscape for decades to come,” said Wojciech Wrochna, Secretary of State and Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure.

“The relocation of our headquarters to Gdańsk is a natural step resulting from the project’s momentum and the need to strengthen our footprint in Pomerania. It is here that Poland’s first nuclear power plant is being developed, and therefore we wish to remain as close as possible to our partners, local authorities and the communities co-delivering this strategic undertaking. We are confident that this ‘move north’ will streamline the delivery of Poland’s nuclear programme,” added Marek Woszczyk, President of the Management Board of PEJ.

PEJ’s Gdańsk office is located at 11 Jana z Kolna Street. By the end of the year, more than 50 staff will be based there, responsible for key project areas including safety, procurement processes, local content development, project execution, enabling infrastructure and occupational health and safety. The company’s presence in Pomerania extends beyond its Gdańsk office — PEJ personnel have for years operated, among other locations, at the Local Information Point in Choczewo and at the project site itself. Regional employment will be increased progressively as the project advances. Initial recruitment campaigns to reinforce the Pomeranian team are already under way, with further hires planned by year-end to secure the necessary competencies and resources for subsequent project phases.

It is worth noting that the company has maintained a presence in Pomerania for over a decade, conducting activities across the region. Since 2013, a Local Information Point has operated in the municipality of Choczewo, serving as a contact hub for local authorities and residents. The launch of the Gdańsk office represents a natural progression of the investor’s long-standing regional engagement and the increasing intensity of project delivery.

In recent weeks, the principal phase of the first stage of preparatory works at the future power plant site — namely the clearance of trees and shrubs — has been completed. Site tidying works are ongoing and will be followed by perimeter fencing and ground levelling. Later this year, PEJ intends to commence the second stage of preparatory works, encompassing the development of the remaining enabling infrastructure required for construction, including technical and welfare buildings, vehicle wash facilities, access roads, car parks, storage areas and concrete batching plants. These works will begin once the relevant permit for the second stage has been obtained. An application was submitted to the Pomeranian Voivode in September 2025.
