Port of Gdańsk and Baltic Hub sign a preliminary agreement for the lease of the Deepwater site

The Management Board of the Port of Gdańsk Authority announced that on 31 December 2025 it signed a preliminary agreement with Baltic Hub for a 30-year lease of the area known as Deepwater. The agreement concerns a unique site located in the deepwater part of the port, with direct access to a quay.

Deepwater covers approximately 27 hectares of strategically located, developed land with access to a deepwater quay, situated in the immediate vicinity of Baltic Hub’s existing facilities. The plot has access to the Rudowy Pier. Its new tenant will be Baltic Hub, for which the site represents an attractive opportunity, enabling consideration of expanding its operational capabilities.

Originally, Deepwater was planned as a grain terminal site. In 2024, however, it was decided that the grain terminal would be built in the Inner Port and developed by Port Gdański Eksploatacja. As a result, the tender for Deepwater was cancelled and reissued, this time without an emphasis on grain handling. This opened the possibility of locating a terminal handling other types of cargo on the site. The only assumption was that annual throughput could not be lower than 2 million tonnes.

On 1 December, the Port of Gdańsk Authority announced that the winning bid had been submitted by Baltic Hub Container Terminal. Subsequently, on 31 December, the parties signed a preliminary lease agreement.

It is not yet known what plans Baltic Hub has for the new site.
