In the Port of Gdańsk, more than 59 million tonnes of cargo were handled in the first three quarters of 2025, the port authorities reported on Tuesday. This represents an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

“In the first three quarters of this year, more than 59 million tonnes of cargo were handled at the Port of Gdańsk, which means a 1.2% increase compared to the same period of the previous year, when just over 58 million tonnes were handled,” the Port of Gdańsk Authority said on its website on Tuesday.

The company reported a significant increase in the containerized general cargo segment – over 2 million TEU handled (a capacity unit often used in reference to ports and ships – PAP), which represents an increase of 21.7% compared to last year (15.5% when considering their total tonnage).

“Increases were also recorded in the handling of ore (+174%) and other bulk cargoes (+8.3%). The liquid fuels segment remains a stable pillar of the port’s operations and, despite a slight decline (-2.4%), accounts for around 50% of the total volume handled in the port,” it was emphasized.

The information published on Tuesday also shows that in the period under review, 2,667 commercial vessels called at the Port of Gdańsk, nearly the same as in the previous year, but with higher tonnage.

“Financial results after the three quarters are also good – net profit amounted to PLN 285.6 million. In accordance with the Act on Sea Ports and Harbors, these funds are allocated, among other things, to further development of port infrastructure, including modernization of quays, expansion of terminals and the road-rail system, as well as investments in solutions that increase the safety and efficiency of operations,” the port authorities announced.

In 2024, the Port of Gdańsk handled 3,559 seagoing commercial vessels, processing 77.4 million tonnes of cargo. Net profit amounted to approx. PLN 264 million.
