Port of Gdańsk Announces Tender for Onshore Power Supply System
Date of publication: 29.06.2026

The Port of Gdańsk has launched one of the most significant decarbonisation projects in its history, announcing a tender procedure for the implementation of the "Construction of an Onshore Power Supply (OPS) System at the Port of Gdańsk". The project will be delivered under a design-and-build contract model.

The scope of the contract includes the design and construction of infrastructure enabling ships to be supplied with electricity from shore while berthed. The introduction of the OPS system will allow vessels to switch off their auxiliary engines during port calls, significantly reducing emissions, noise pollution and fuel consumption within the port area.

The investment will cover the construction of OPS infrastructure for the Westerplatte Defenders' Quay, the Baltic Hub Container Terminal, and dedicated facilities serving military vessels.

The project represents an important element of the Port of Gdańsk's preparations for the implementation of the European AFIR and FuelEU Maritime regulations, which aim to accelerate the development of infrastructure for sustainable maritime transport and gradually reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The construction of the OPS system is not merely an investment in modern energy infrastructure. The project is also expected to contribute to the development of intelligent management systems, improve port operations, enhance energy security and strengthen the competitive position of the Port of Gdańsk as a modern and sustainable seaport.

The deadline for submitting bids is 6 August 2026, while questions regarding the tender procedure may be submitted until 23 July 2026.
