Stena Line has been awarded the contract to operate the Public Ferry Terminal in the Port of Gdynia from 2026 to 2032, the port authority announced Friday. The agreement grants the company allocated time slots and leased terminal space, ensuring continuity of operations by an experienced ferry operator.
The terminal, opened in June 2022, is equipped to handle both passenger and ro-ro cargo traffic. It covers over seven hectares, includes a single ferry berth, and has the capacity to carry more than 8.2 million lane meters of cargo and nearly 2.5 million passengers annually.
The selection followed a competitive tender process in which Stena Line met all formal requirements and offered the most advantageous proposal. A consortium of Unity Line Limited and Best Ferries Alliance 1 also participated but did not fully meet the tender specifications.
The terminal is a key component of Gdynia’s port infrastructure, strengthening the city’s position as a Baltic transport hub and contributing to regional economic growth, from logistics and transport to tourism. The port authority indicated that the terminal may be open to additional operators in the future, further enhancing ferry connectivity in the region.
The investment in the terminal was valued at nearly PLN 230 million (approx. €50 million) and was co-financed with European Union funds.
