Dajin Offshore, the largest privately owned Chinese manufacturer of offshore wind foundations, has signed a contract with state-owned Stocznia Szczecińska Wulkan for the fabrication of at least 40 fully outfitted internal platforms for foundations destined for the Nordseecluster B project in the German sector of the North Sea.

The contract, valued at PLN 47 million, marks a significant step in strengthening Dajin’s integration with the European offshore wind supply chain. Production is scheduled to commence at the end of February 2026. Around 200 jobs will be supported directly and indirectly in and around the Szczecin yard, including engineers, production personnel, suppliers and subcontractors.

Strengthening Pan-European Industrial Cooperation

The agreement with Wulkan, a company wholly owned by the Polish State Treasury, reinforces industrial ties between Dajin and Poland’s offshore manufacturing sector. Situated on a 45-hectare riverside site along the Oder, the yard boasts substantial infrastructure for the fabrication of large-scale steel structures and has identified offshore wind as a strategic growth segment.

This is not Wulkan’s first offshore assignment. The shipyard has articulated clear ambitions to expand its role within the offshore wind supply chain, including participation in forthcoming projects planned in Polish waters.

Adam Kowalski, Supply Chain Management Director at Dajin Offshore, said the contract reflects the company’s long-term commitment to cooperation with European partners. Through collaboration with Wulkan, Dajin aims to share industry know-how, technical standards and practical experience gained on international offshore wind developments, thereby strengthening local capabilities in anticipation of future Polish projects.

The partnership encompasses the exchange of engineering expertise and production best practice, contributing to the development of domestic competencies in offshore wind construction.

Both parties envisage further cooperation on subsequent offshore wind ventures, particularly in Poland, as the national Baltic Sea offshore wind programme gathers pace.

Supporting a Flagship European Offshore Wind Development

Nordseecluster is a joint offshore wind venture led by RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%), with RWE responsible for construction and long-term operation. The project is located approximately 50 kilometres north of the island of Juist, within Germany’s exclusive economic zone, and comprises several wind farm sites in the eastern German North Sea.

With a planned total installed capacity of up to 1.6 GW, Nordseecluster is expected to generate sufficient renewable electricity to supply the equivalent of around 1.6 million German households. The scheme is being delivered in two phases, with commercial operations at Nordseecluster B scheduled to commence in early 2029.
