The Polish Shipping Association (Związek Armatorów Polskich and Polski Związek Przedsiębiorców Żeglugowych) has joined the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the global organisation representing shipowners and commercial shipping operators worldwide. The decision was announced during the 12th International Maritime Congress in Szczecin.

The Polish organisation will join the ICS Council and committees, strengthening Poland’s participation in international work on the sector’s key challenges – from decarbonisation, through safety and crew welfare, to the digitalisation of shipping.

– We are delighted to welcome the Polish Shipping Association to our membership. As an industry, we must work together to develop global solutions that ensure sustainable and efficient growth for future generations. New opportunities lie ahead – said Thomas A. Kazakos, Secretary General of ICS and one of the speakers at the 12th International Maritime Congress in Szczecin.

Director of the Polish Shipping AssociationMarcin Talwik, stressed that the organisation’s accession to ICS represents “an important step” in strengthening the international representation of Polish shipowners.

He added that membership provides access to strategic knowledge, best practices, and international networking opportunities, while – following the organisation’s earlier accession to the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) – further strengthens the position of the Polish maritime sector on the global stage.

The International Chamber of Shipping brings together shipowners’ organisations from more than 40 countries and territories across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa, representing the majority of the world’s merchant fleet.
