On Saturday, 8 August, as many as three cruise ships arrived at the Port of Gdańsk. It was the first such occurrence this season. Three vessels could be seen at Gdańsk’s quays, differing significantly in size, character and the standard of accommodation and services offered to passengers.

The largest of them was Viking Jupiter, the pride of the Viking Cruises fleet. The luxury cruise ship is 228 metres long and 28 metres wide. More than 900 guests can travel on board. The vessel was designed with comfortable, elegant cruises in mind. It offers spacious sea-view cabins and suites, restaurants serving dishes from various cuisines, a spa, a swimming pool and numerous areas dedicated to relaxation and entertainment.

Le Champlain berthed at the Obrońców Westerplatte Quay. It is one of six small Explorer-class cruise ships operated by the French company Ponant. Sailing under the French flag, the vessel was built in 2018 at the VARD shipyard. It is 131.46 metres long and 17.5 metres wide, with a gross tonnage of 9,976 GT. The ship can reach a speed of 12.5 knots. Across its eight decks, six of which are accessible to passengers, there is accommodation for just 184 guests. They are looked after by a crew of 118. The small number of passengers in relation to the size of the vessel allows the operator to focus primarily on an intimate atmosphere, personalised service and a high standard of travel.
