Flint Systems Delivers Oder Picker Simulator for Alphaplan
Date of publication: 28.04.2024

Flint Systems delivered an advanced order picker simulator for the Belgian company Alphaplan Group. The solution was designed for use at trade fairs, conferences, and customer demonstrations of Alphaplan’s products, namely ultra-flat warehouse floors, as well as for training operators working in high-bay warehouses and narrow logistics aisles.

The simulator is based on the STILL RX-X truck design and enables realistic replication of truck movement on different types of warehouse flooring, reflecting real working conditions. The training software was integrated with a specially designed platform that enables training in a standing position.

The training scope includes, among others:

– forward and reverse driving in narrow warehouse aisles,

– raising and lowering the cabin together with the working platform,

– maneuvering between racking systems,

– precise positioning relative to warehouse shelves.

As part of the project, the floor profile and its characteristics were also transferred into the simulation. Surface unevenness and its specific properties were recreated in the simulation environment, significantly increasing training realism and allowing operators to clearly distinguish how the truck behaves on different warehouse surfaces.

The simulator enables both manual package picking and pallet handling using forks. The operator can define the weight of transported loads, which directly affects machine behavior. The hardware platform responds with tilting motions and vibrations corresponding to the current load, further increasing training realism.

The solution also includes operation within an inductive guidance system. While driving on the inductive track, based on a cable embedded in the floor, the truck moves only along the aisle axis without the possibility of steering. After leaving the track, the operator regains full control over vehicle maneuvering.

The delivered simulator will enable Alphaplan to present its solutions effectively and realistically, with a high level of professionalism while also offering an engaging experience. The project is another example of Flint Systems implementing advanced simulation technologies in the logistics and warehousing sector, and demonstrates the broad application of VR simulators, which can be used not only for professional training, but also for product presentations.
