With the academic staff in attendance, two new Omega Sport yachts, purchased by the university, were officially welcomed on 10 May. In the future, they will regularly represent the institution at events held at sea and on inland waters.

The baptismal act was performed by the rector of the Maritime University of Gdynia (Uniwersytet Morski w Gdyni), prof. Adam Weintrit. The ceremony was also attended by, among others, the Director of the Sports and Recreation Centre, Dr Andrzej Lachowicz, the Head of the Sailing and Water Sports Centre, Dr Andrzej Szklarski, and Jędrzej Charłampowicz - an assistant at the Department of Logistics and Transport Systems, a multiple representative of the University in Polish sailing championships.

"Until now we have won trophies on chartered yachts, but now we can finally reach for laurels on our own" said the rector of the Maritime University of Gdynia.

Omega POL 655 and POL 654 took part in a regatta in Olszyn, and from 22 to 25 May 2023 they participated in the Academic Championships of Poland in Wilkasy, organised by the Academic Sports Association Warsaw. Currently, the Sailing and Water Sports Centre has seven yachts and two motorised RIBs.
