A new ferry connection between Poland and Sweden is scheduled to commence operations this year. Polferries has confirmed the conclusion of an agreement with the port of Karlshamn, under which the service will be operated within the route network of Polsca Baltic Ferries.
Polferries announced today that a new ferry route linking Gdańsk with the Swedish port of Karlshamn will be inaugurated this year. The operator of the service will be the newly established Polish company Polsca Baltic Ferries.
A formal agreement has already been signed with the Port of Karlshamn.
The route will be served by two ferries of comparable freight lane capacity, each capable of accommodating approximately 90 freight units. Polferries stated that one of the vessels will be configured primarily for cargo operations, while the other will operate as a passenger and vehicle ferry. The specific vessels assigned to the service have not yet been disclosed.
Sailings are expected to commence later this year, subject to the completion of the necessary ferry infrastructure works in Karlshamn. The service will operate six times per week. Departures from both ports are scheduled for the evening hours, with morning arrivals. The crossing time is estimated at approximately 13 hours.
Polska Żegluga Bałtycka, the owner and operator of the Polferries brand, has concluded an agreement with the Port of Karlshamn for a minimum term of three years.

Karlshamn is situated in southern Sweden, in the Blekinge region. The port ranks among the larger facilities in the area. It remains ice-free year-round and offers deep-water berths with a combined quay length of approximately three kilometres. The port currently handles regular ferry services to Klaipėda, Lithuania. In addition, it is connected to the Blekinge Coastal Railway main line and the E22 motorway corridor, and forms part of the European TEN-T transport network.
For Polsca Baltic Ferries, the launch of the Gdańsk–Karlshamn service represents a significant expansion of its ferry portfolio, complementing existing routes between Świnoujście and Ystad and Trelleborg, as well as between Gdańsk and Nynäshamn. It also constitutes an important development for the Port of Gdańsk, which will gain an additional ferry connection and, consequently, further vessel calls.
