Ocean Winds has begun leasing the Świnoujście Offshore Terminal for the construction of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm. The installation terminal in Świnoujście will play an important role in the preparation, transport and installation of foundations and transition pieces. Ocean Winds will be the terminal’s first tenant to make full use of its capacity and entire available area for the BC-Wind project.

The terminal lease began in early September 2026 and will run until the fourth quarter of 2027. During this period, Świnoujście Offshore Terminal will be one of the key elements of the logistics and installation infrastructure supporting the BC-Wind project and offshore construction activities.

Świnoujście Offshore Terminal was designed to handle offshore wind projects in the region. Its infrastructure allows it to accommodate vessels used in the construction of offshore wind farms and provides logistical services for components, including their unloading, storage, preparation and loading onto installation vessels.

The terminal is well located in relation to our project area and is an important part of the infrastructure supporting the next stage of the works. We are now focusing on preparing the terminal to receive the foundations and ensuring the efficient start of offshore installation works – said Pete Geddes, BC-Wind Project Director.

– Starting our cooperation with Ocean Winds on the BC-Wind project is an important moment for Świnoujście Offshore Terminal and ORLEN Neptun. The terminal confirms its readiness to handle the most demanding stages of offshore wind farm construction, while also allowing us to develop capabilities that will be crucial for future ORLEN Group projects in the Baltic. It is also a practical example of the use of Polish port infrastructure and domestic capabilities in the development of offshore wind. Ultimately, the terminal will serve as strategic infrastructure for the ORLEN Group in the delivery of second-phase offshore wind projects – said Sebastian Wionczek, Managing Director of Świnoujście Offshore Terminal.

As part of preparations for the site, Ocean Winds has also signed a contract with Team Project, a company based near Szczecin. The company will be responsible for temporary reprofiling works at the terminal, including preparing, levelling and compacting the area that will be used to handle operations involving turbine foundations and transition pieces.

The foundations for the BC-Wind offshore wind farm will consist of 27 monopiles and transition pieces. The monopiles will provide the foundations for the wind turbines and offshore substation. They will have diameters ranging from 9.5 to 10.5 metres and lengths of approximately 66 to 89 metres – almost the height of a 30-storey building. The transition pieces will be installed on top of the monopiles, connecting the foundations to the turbine towers. They will also be equipped with platforms providing safe access to the turbines for service technicians.

Installation works for the BC-Wind foundations will be carried out using specialised installation vessels and precision positioning systems. Monopile installation is scheduled for the turn of the first and second quarters of 2027, while installation of the transition pieces is planned for the third and fourth quarters of 2027.

BC-Wind is Ocean Winds’ first project in the Baltic Sea. Located approximately 23 km off the Polish coast, the project will comprise 26 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines with a planned total capacity of up to 390 MW. The wind farm will be capable of supplying renewable electricity to almost half a million Polish households each year.

The start of Ocean Winds’ lease of the Świnoujście Offshore Terminal is significant not only for the delivery of the BC-Wind project, but also for the development of domestic capabilities in supporting offshore wind investments. The terminal will be used to deploy Polish port infrastructure during one of the key stages of the wind farm’s construction, requiring precise logistics, appropriate component preparation and cooperation between specialised partners. It marks an important step in building practical experience within Poland’s port infrastructure in the delivery of offshore wind projects.
