POLSCA Baltic Ferries to Officially Launch Ticket Sales On 30 March
Date of publication: 26.03.2026

As scheduled, POLSCA S.A. will officially commence operations on 30 March. From that date, ticket sales for cargo clients, individual passengers, B2B partners, and agents across Poland and Scandinavia will be managed through a single integrated system. The new company brings together the experience and resources of three Polish ferry operators—Polferries, Unity Line, and Euroafrica—with the goal of unifying ticketing, fleet management, and route networks under the POLSCA Baltic Ferries banner.

By the end of March, POLSCA Baltic Ferries will operate as a joint brand of Polish shipowners, aiming to establish a strong, modern, and leading presence on ferry routes between Poland and Scandinavia. The creation of the company is the result of a strategic decision to pool resources in order to enhance the competitiveness of Polish operators in the Baltic Sea. The new brand will serve key connections between Poland and Sweden, including Świnoujście–Ystad, Świnoujście–Trelleborg, and Gdańsk–Nynäshamn, with plans underway to introduce a Gdańsk–Karlshamn route in the first half of 2026.

Three Operators, One Brand, One Destination: Scandinavia

The integration encompasses not only a shared visual identity but, crucially, the harmonisation of commercial and operational processes. Customers will benefit from a single product offering, unified sales channel, and a more transparent route network, improving both travel planning and service availability.

“By combining sales, operational management, and fleet administration, we reduce costs while eliminating overlapping competition on the same routes. Previously, vessels from different Polish operators would sometimes depart on the same line within very short intervals. While this was justified during periods of high demand, lower utilisation led to inefficiencies in fleet deployment. Through collaboration, we can manage traffic optimally: one vessel meets market demand, while others can be redeployed to alternative routes, generating additional revenue,” said Paweł Pluto-Prądzyński, Director of Unity Line, Poland.

11 Ro-Pax Ferries on the Baltic

At launch, POLSCA will operate a fleet of 11 ro-pax vessels serving regular connections between Poland and Sweden. The operational scale provides greater flexibility in scheduling, ensures year-round service stability, and allows for more efficient use of port infrastructure. It also provides a strong foundation for further network expansion throughout 2026.

“Individual operators currently have only a few vessels each, which limits growth potential in the European ferry market. Combining a fleet of a dozen or more ships opens genuine opportunities for expansion into new markets and the launch of additional routes. The consolidation of financially robust partners, with support from the State Treasury, also ensures greater financial stability, enhanced investment capacity, and increased trust from business partners and financial institutions. This forms the cornerstone for the further development of Polish ferry operations in the Baltic,” emphasised Piotr Redmerski, CEO of Polska Żegluga Bałtycka S.A.

An Operator with Leadership Ambitions

The POLSCA Baltic Ferries initiative was first announced in May last year. The planned 30 March 2026 launch will mark not only the start of ticket sales but also a symbolic transition from the integration phase to full market operations.

The company was established to expand ferry services in the Baltic and to more effectively compete with German and Scandinavian operators. Notably, vessels built for Polish lines will sail under the POLSCA colours. This includes the Jantar Unity, the first ferry in years to be entirely designed and constructed in Poland at the Gdańsk Remontowa Shipyard named after Józef Piłsudski. The vessel has been operating regular services on the Świnoujście–Trelleborg route since last year.

New Ferries, New Colours

All new vessels have been commissioned by the state-owned company Polskie Promy. The first and third will be delivered to Unity Line, part of Polska Żegluga Morska, while the second will go to Polska Żegluga Bałtycka. The contract also includes an option for a fourth vessel for PŻB. The second and third vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

The creation of the POLSCA brand also aims to build a modern, integrated ferry operator combining economies of scale with digitalised sales and customer service. Business partners will benefit from a unified cooperation model and a stronger joint marketing presence in both Poland and Scandinavia. Consolidating fleets and operational structures will enable the development of a single online booking system, better alignment of services with market demand, and consistent reinforcement of a Polish operator’s position in the Baltic.

For cargo clients, this will mean simplified procedures, greater operational predictability, and improved support for supply chains between Poland and Scandinavia. Passengers will enjoy a wider choice of sailings through a single platform, consistent service standards, and the expansion of loyalty programmes.
