The Tolten is the longest ship ever to arrive at the GCT terminal in Gdynia, which is part of the Hutchison Ports Group. Operation of the ship required the highest number number of movements (about 1,000 unloading, 2,000 loading).

Tolten, operated by German Hapag-Lloyd line, has an overall length of 300 meters, and is currently flying the flag of Liberia. As of Sunday, July 10, the transshipment operation is underway at Bulgarian Quay in the Port of Gdynia.

Tolten (IMO No.: 9612870, MMSI: 636092678), is a container ship built in 2012. The vessel measures 300 meters in length, 46 in width, and has a draft of 9.4 meters.

The vessel made a one-time call to the Port of Gdynia due to the surplus of containers accumulated at the Gdynia Container Terminal (GCT).

- The vessel sails on the AL2 line on a daily basis, the line serving the connection between Europe and the United States. It's visiting Gdynia on a one-off basis. It will sail from Gdynia with surplus containers that were waiting to be picked up at our terminal - explains Adam Czartowski, commercial director at GCT.

The spectacular call could be admired from Kwiatkowski Estakada on Sunday afternoon. The Tolten departed from the roadstead around 3:30 pm, and appeared at Bulgarian Quay after a spectacular turn.

GCT Gdynia record

Tolten is also the record-breaking container ship in the history of the GCT terminal in terms of the number of containers per vessel. 1,000 containers were discharged from the vessel, while twice as many were loaded. It will most likely sail from Gdynia on Wednesday.

- Thanks to our investments, including the reconstruction of the deep-water quay, we are already able to receive ships as large as 400 meters. The Bulgarian quay is the only quay that creates such conditions in the Port of Gdynia - stresses Jan Jarmakowski, director of the GCT terminal in Gdynia.
