A modern, multimodal transshipment hub will be built on Ostrów Grabowski in the Port of Szczecin, significantly enhancing the port’s transport and logistics capabilities. At the headquarters of Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority (ZMPSiŚ), a contract was signed with the contractor — Usługi Transportowo-Budowlane Bernard Baranowski — for the implementation of this strategic project.
As part of the investment, a storage yard measuring 396 meters in length and 27 meters in width will be constructed. The scope of work includes, among others, the development of the existing siding track, construction of a stormwater drainage system with linear drainage, a retention tank, and a pre-treatment system. The entire area will be equipped with lighting, video monitoring, and fencing.
The new transshipment yard will utilize the existing railway layout located near the Finnish and Norwegian quays. The infrastructure will enable efficient container transfer between rail and sea transport — and vice versa — increasing the operational flexibility of the Port of Szczecin.
The project is being carried out under the task titled “Construction of a Multimodal Rail Transshipment Hub on Ostrów Grabowski in the Port of Szczecin” and has received funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF2), within the CEF-T-2023-MILMOB-WORKS call, aimed at adapting the TEN-T network for dual civil-military use.
