The cruise ship AIDAPrima has returned to the Port of Gdynia, even though the official cruise season in Gdynia has already ended. The ship appeared off-schedule due to stormy weather in Stockholm.
AIDAPrima concluded its Gdynia cruise season on December 6. However, the ship unexpectedly docked again at the French Quay today, December 18. According to its itinerary, the ship was supposed to sail from Tallinn to Stockholm, but stormy conditions off the coast of Sweden forced the captain to change course and skip the Swedish capital. Instead, a decision was made to return to Gdynia. After this unscheduled stop, AIDAPrima will resume its regular schedule and sail to Kiel, Germany.
AIDAPrima, flying the AIDA Cruises colors under the Italian flag, is a 300-meter luxury cruise ship. The vessel entered service in 2016. It was built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki, Japan, and christened in Hamburg during the celebration of the port’s 827th anniversary. The ship can accommodate 3,300 guests, served by a crew of 900. It is powered by dual-fuel engines and is one of the first ships of its type equipped with cold ironing technology, allowing it to draw electricity from shore and turn off engines while in port.
In 2025, AIDAPrima has now called at the Port of Gdynia twice, although it has visited Poland previously. In total, fourteen cruise ships made 52 calls to Gdynia this season, bringing approximately 130,000 tourists on board.
