Deputy Minister Arkadiusz Marchewka has officially confirmed that the latest ferry operated by POLSCA Baltic Ferries will sail under the Polish flag. “After 30 years, the white and red returns to the mast.” The naming ceremony for the Bursztyn Unity will take place on 11 November.

“This is a very significant step towards reclaiming in the Baltic what we have been losing over the past years. The ferry was designed by Polish naval architects, built at a Polish shipyard, will serve a Polish shipowner and, importantly, will sail under the Polish flag,” Arkadiusz Marchewka said at a press conference in Szczecin. “11 November, Independence Day, will be a major event. After 30 years, the white and red returns to the mast.”

On Thursday, 29 October, the Bursztyn Unity docked in Świnoujście for the first time. The voyage from Gdańsk went according to plan, with no unexpected incidents. After preparations in port, the ferry will set off for Szczecin on 9 November. The vessel’s naming ceremony is scheduled for 11 November, Poland’s Independence Day, at Wały Chrobrego.

“The voyage was calm and trouble-free. The Bursztyn Unity is performing excellently. The vessel is stable, the propulsion system operates quietly, and vibrations are virtually imperceptible, which will certainly contribute to the comfort of our future passengers. The ferry responds very well to manoeuvres, and its modern navigation systems help us operate the vessel safely. We are pleased to have reached Świnoujście without any difficulties and on schedule,” said Captain Daniel Kwidziński.

We plan to continue covering the issue of the Polish flag...
