Following our report on the planned relocation of ferry services from Gdańsk from Nynäshamn to the nearby Port of Norvik, Polferries has sent us its position on the matter. The operator emphasises that only the terminal is changing, meaning that even the name of the route will remain unchanged.
In recent days, citing reports in the Swedish media, we reported that Polferries was planning a change to its service between Gdańsk and Nynäshamn. The Polish operator’s ferries are soon expected to use a different terminal. Instead of calling at the port in Nynäshamn itself, they will — like Stena Line’s vessels — call at the new Stockholm Norvik ferry terminal, located just a few kilometres away.
Today, Polska Żegluga Bałtycka, the company operating the Polferries service, sent us its official position on the matter. The company confirmed the relocation plans and the changes to the timetable, while emphasising that passengers had been informed in advance about the planned move and that it concerns only the terminal handling the ferries. We publish PŻB’s statement in full below:
Polferries has been ready to transfer its Gdańsk–Nynäshamn service to the Stockholm Norvik terminal since the end of August 2026. At that time, we also prepared information materials for the move, which was originally planned for September.
The date of the terminal change has been postponed three times because preparations of the infrastructure on the port operator’s side have taken longer than expected. Only this week did our employees in Sweden confirm that renovation work had begun in the terminal facilities, increasing the likelihood that the November deadline will be met.
Passengers had already been informed about the planned transfer of operations to the new terminal, but no specific date was given because the relocation schedule kept changing. This week, we are launching the planned information campaign about the terminal’s new location.
We would also like to emphasise that the name of the Gdańsk–Nynäshamn service will remain unchanged. Only the terminal handling the ferries is changing. Stena Line follows the same approach: despite transferring its operations to Stockholm Norvik, it continues to offer the Nynäshamn–Ventspils service. Accordingly, ticket sales for the Gdańsk–Nynäshamn route for the coming months are correct and are not affected by the timing of the relocation.
