ORLEN Opens New LNG Trading Office In Singapore
Date of publication: 27.10.2026

ORLEN is expanding its LNG business in Asia. A new trading office in Singapore will begin operations in the first quarter of 2027 as part of London-based ORLEN LNG Trading. A presence in one of the world’s leading commodity trading hubs will strengthen relationships with customers in Asia and support more efficient management of the Group’s liquefied natural gas supply portfolio.

“We are building ORLEN’s position as a global LNG player. In early November, we will begin taking LNG deliveries from the Plaquemines terminal under our contract with Venture Global. As our supply portfolio grows, we want to be closer to customers in our key markets. That is why we are opening an office in Singapore, from which we will develop relationships with customers across Asia — a region that accounts for the majority of global LNG demand. From 2027, our teams in Europe and Asia will provide trading coverage almost continuously throughout the 24-hour cycle. This will enable us to capture opportunities in both markets and direct cargoes flexibly to destinations offering the most attractive commercial opportunities” – said Robert Soszyński, Vice President of the ORLEN Management Board, Operations.

Asia accounts for the majority of global LNG demand, which is forecast to grow further in the coming years. A presence in Singapore, a regional commodity trading hub, will keep the ORLEN LNG Trading team close to customers and business partners. The new office will strengthen the Group’s capabilities in the region and support the continued expansion of its existing trading activities in Asian markets.

These activities are managed by ORLEN LNG Trading, the ORLEN Group’s centre of expertise for LNG trading. The company manages deliveries under long-term free-on-board (FOB) contracts, under which cargoes are collected at the loading port, optimises the deployment of the LNG carrier fleet and trades on international markets. To date, it has delivered six LNG cargoes to key Asian markets, including China, Korea and Thailand.

Last year’s contract with Osaka Gas also illustrates how the company combines its trading expertise with the Group’s shipping capabilities to develop relationships with Asian customers. In September 2025, ORLEN delivered LNG to Japan for the first time under an agreement covering 100 million cubic metres of natural gas. The cargo was transported by the LNG carrier Ignacy Jan Paderewski. Executed by the London office, the transaction paved the way for further development of the relationship with the Japanese partner.

These deliveries are supported by a fleet of eight LNG carriers used by the ORLEN Group. Two vessels joined the fleet in 2026, each with a capacity of 174,000 cubic metres of LNG, equivalent to approximately 70,000 tonnes. The fleet expansion increases the Group’s shipping capacity and provides greater flexibility in planning deliveries to Poland and international markets.

The Singapore office will complement these shipping capabilities with a direct trading presence in Asia, strengthening the ORLEN Group’s ability to optimise its LNG portfolio. It will allow the Group to respond more flexibly to demand across individual markets when allocating cargoes and to make better use of its LNG carrier fleet. The expansion of trading activities in Europe and Asia will support both the Group’s competitiveness and the energy security of Poland and the wider region.
