Finnlines has welcomed its 200,000th passenger on the ferry service linking Sweden and Poland since the route was launched. To mark the milestone, the Swedish Ambassador to Poland visited the Finnfellow, the vessel operating the connection.

Representatives of Finnlines, the Swedish Embassy, as well as customers and business partners of the operator gathered on Wednesday, 10 June, to celebrate the success of the Malmö–Świnoujście route. The event took place just ahead of the summer season and provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of efficient maritime links for tourism, business, freight transport and trade between the two countries.

– Sweden and Poland enjoy close and growing relations. Good transport connections are important for supporting people-to-people contacts and business ties between our countries – said Sweden's Ambassador to Poland, Martina Quick.

According to the ferry operator, passenger numbers during the 2025 summer season increased by 39% compared with the route's first year of operation, highlighting growing demand for direct connections between Sweden and Poland.

– More than half of our passengers are Polish, while the route is also popular with travellers from Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway and Ukraine. Malmö's proximity to Copenhagen and the Øresund region further enhances the route's attractiveness as a gateway between Scandinavia and continental Europe – Finnlines noted.

Through its regular sailings, Finnlines supports supply chains, facilitates trade and provides access to key markets.

As Antonio Raimo, Line Manager at Finnlines and Managing Director of Rederi AB Nordö-Link, emphasised, efficient transport connections are a cornerstone of economic growth and cooperation between markets.

The service is operated by the ro-pax ferry Finnfellow. Built in 2000 at the Astilleros Españoles Puerto Real shipyard in Spain, the vessel is 188 metres long and nearly 30 metres wide. It can accommodate up to 440 passengers and offers 2,918 lane metres of freight capacity.
