ERBUD has announced the completion of the refurbishment of the Maltese Quay at the Port of Łeba. The works were carried out from May 2025 until July 2026 and, according to the company, were delivered on schedule and within budget. The project, valued at approximately PLN 8 million, was commissioned by the Maritime Office in Gdynia.

The investment, which lasted for more than a year, included the comprehensive refurbishment of the Maltese Quay and the pier extending from it. The upgraded infrastructure will be used by the Polish Maritime Search and Rescue Service (SAR), strengthening safety and emergency response capabilities along the Polish coast.

– The project was carried out in an operational port, which required maintaining uninterrupted port activities while ensuring precise coordination of hydrotechnical works. One of the greatest engineering challenges was driving the new sheet-pile wall into the seabed despite numerous underwater obstacles, including large rocks and boulders –said Piotr Bonin, Contract Director responsible for hydrotechnical operations at ERBUD Group.

The scope of works included the installation of a new sheet-pile quay wall together with its anchoring system, construction of a new reinforced concrete capping beam, reconstruction of the quay surface and modernisation of the hydrotechnical equipment. The project forms part of the "Construction of the Offshore Service Terminal in Łeba"programme, co-financed under Poland's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO).

Alongside this project, intensive design work is currently underway for the reconstruction of the entrance to the Port of Łeba. The documentation being prepared will pave the way for the construction of a modern breakwater system comprising, among other elements, a new 260-metre offshore eastern breakwater, the extension of the western breakwater by 91 metres, a new groyne, sediment traps, a 40-metre-wide approach channel, a 160-metre turning basin and a complete navigational marking system.

The project, valued at approximately PLN 132 million, is being delivered by DORACO Construction Corporation, with completion scheduled for August 2026.

According to ERBUD, the refurbishment of the Maltese Quay further strengthens the company's growing expertise in maritime hydrotechnical construction. The contractor is currently delivering several other key port infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Equinor Base Quay and the Baltic Power Quay in the Port of Łeba. In the Port of Gdańsk, ERBUD is responsible for the reconstruction of the Szczecińskie and Industrial Quays, the refurbishment of the Szyprów Quay, the expansion of the marina at Błotnik, as well as the construction of the service base for the Baltic Power offshore wind farm.
