The first contract, valued at PLN 700,000, concerns the repair of the SGSG exhaust piping system. The work has been awarded to the Navy-San. The company will be responsible for restoring the system to full operational capability through inspection and the replacement of worn components.
In March, two additional contracts were signed with Biuro Handlowe Ruda. These cover a 3,000-hour overhaul of the ship’s MTU 12V 595 TE90 main propulsion engines, as well as repair work restoring the gas–electric generator set installed aboard the vessel to its prescribed maintenance cycle standards.
The ORP Ślązak is assigned to the Combat Ships Squadron of the 3rd Ship Flotilla and is based at the Naval Port Gdynia. The vessel measures 95.4 metres in length with a beam of approximately 13 metres and has a full displacement of 2,460 tonnes. The crew numbers 97 personnel.
he corvette has a maximum speed of 30 knots, while at an economical speed of 14 knots it has an operational range of 4,500 nautical miles. Propulsion is provided by two MTU 12V 595 TE90 diesel engines, each producing 3,240 kW, and a GE/Avio LM2500 gas turbine generating 25,000 kW, driving two shafts fitted with five-bladed controllable-pitch propellers. The vessel is also equipped with a Schottel bow thruster.
The ship’s systems include the TACTICOS combat management system, the STING‑EO Mk2 fire-control system, a TACAN tactical air navigation system, and the SMART‑S Mk2 air and surface surveillance radar. Additional equipment includes the Thales Mirador optronic head, an IFF system, the ELAC Nautik Vanguard, and standard navigation radars.
Armament comprises an OTO Melara 76 mm Super Rapid main gun, two Marlin‑WS 30 30 mm cannons**, four 12.7 mm WKM-Bm heavy machine guns, and four launchers for PPZR Grom missiles. The vessel is also equipped with an MK-790 boarding boat, an MK-500 utility boat, and a flight deck capable of supporting helicopter or unmanned aerial vehicle operations.
In February last year, the Naval Port Command Gdynia also launched a tender for the technical verification of the ship’s IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System). The contract was awarded to PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, which had 21 days to complete the task following the signing of the agreement in February 2025.
Two bidders took part in that procedure. The second was JDSL, whose offer was more than twice as expensive as the one submitted by the Gdynia-based shipyard.
