Polferries has announced that the Wawel ferry has returned to the Gdańsk-Nynashamn line after being repaired at the "Gryfia" shipyard in Szczecin. 

In February 2023, the Wawel ferry underwent an intermediate dock inspection at the "Gryfia" Remontowa Shipyard in Szczecin. The hull has undergone very advanced work in both the surface and underwater parts. It underwent maintenance and painting, including the replacement of the anti-fouling coating and refreshed colors on the unit's sheathing. The rudder fins were repaired and the seals on the propeller blades were replaced. The reinforcement sheets of the ballast tanks were replaced and cleaned.


In the bow section, one bow thruster was renovated, while electric motors were renovated in both thrusters. The engine room of the ferry also underwent significant modernization and maintenance works. The main engines have undergone inspections and repairs, e.g. turbochargers, control system, injection pumps and pneumatic system. Steam boilers were cleaned and inspected. The fans and motors of the air-conditioning and recuperation units were renovated.

Numerous locksmith and welding works were also carried out. The hydraulic pipelines of the stern ramp and bow anchor winches were replaced. Carpeting and part of the doors were replaced in the passenger spaces, and the crew bathrooms were renovated. The vacuum system pipelines were replaced and the black water treatment plant tank was cleaned. The review of the audio-video equipment and the lighting of the disco, which is located under the characteristic dome, was carried out. One of the car decks has undergone maintenance and painting work. In addition, the fire-fighting system and life-saving equipment were reviewed, including refreshed coatings of lifeboats and lifeboats. The navigation and radio equipment was reviewed.

The stoppage of the ferry in the Szczecin shipyard ended with an inspection of the PRS classification society with a positive decision regarding the further operation of the vessel. The ferry returned to the Gdańsk-Nynashamn line.
