At the Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne S.A. in Zielonka (military electronic plant), an investment agreement was signed for the construction of a CAMM-ER missile Service and Production Centre, alongside a production hall for air and missile defence system components. This facility will enable the production, assembly, and delivery of surface-to-air missiles for the Polish Armed Forces, including for the multi-role frigates of the Miecznik programme.
The event was attended by Cezary Tomczyk, while the agreement was signed by Adam Leszkiewicz, Piotr Zawieja, Damian Gorzelany, and Artur Kaczmarczyk.
“From the ground up, we are building modern infrastructure to house the production and servicing of one of the world’s most advanced surface-to-air missiles, the CAMM-ER. Currently, the Polish Armed Forces already operate CAMM missiles in the Pilica+ air defence systems produced by PGZ companies,” said Adam Leszkiewicz, President of PGZ S.A.
Construction of the Service and Production Centre and the associated production hall is scheduled for completion by 2028. The total investment amounts to PLN 129,444,527, including PLN 102,000,000 from capitalisation via FIK funds and PLN 27,444,527 from WZE’s own resources. The project is expected to significantly enhance the production and logistical capacity of Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne S.A. for key modernisation programmes of the Polish Armed Forces.
MBDA’s CAMM missiles are self-guided and equipped with an active radar seeker capable of engaging multiple high-threat aerial targets in all weather conditions at ranges up to 25 km. They will substantially increase the striking capability of the Pilica+ system, providing protection for critical mobile assets and infrastructure. Developed by MBDA engineers, the missile entered service with the British Armed Forces in 2018 and, since then, the CAMM family—including the CAMM-ER variant co-developed with Italy—has rapidly gained international customers.
The Polish Armed Forces are already users of CAMM missiles, receiving the first battery in 2022 under the urgent operational requirement codenamed “Mała Narew.” The MBDA-PGZ co-developed air defence systems were delivered within six months of signing the agreement. Notably, CAMM-ER missiles will also arm the future naval air defence systems to be installed on multi-role frigates of the Miecznik programme.
At PGZ Stocznia Wojenna Sp. z o.o. in Gdynia, construction is underway for two of the three planned frigates, scheduled to enter service between 2029 and 2031. The first vessel, the future ORP Wicher, is planned to be launched in August this year.
