Ocean Winds has selected Przembud Gdańsk S.A. as the general contractor for the operations and maintenance (O&M) base in Władysławowo, which will support the BC-Wind offshore wind farm. The project marks another important step in the company’s strategy to develop local content in Poland. At the same time, it will contribute to the growth of regional expertise in the offshore wind sector, strengthen local infrastructure and create new jobs.
The O&M base will support the long-term operation and servicing of the BC-Wind offshore wind farm, playing a key role in ensuring the efficient performance of the project for decades to come. The selection of a Polish contractor reflects Ocean Winds’ broader commitment to working with local businesses and strengthening the domestic supply chain for the offshore wind sector throughout all stages of the BC-Wind project.
“BC-Wind’s O&M base is further proof of how we are delivering our local content strategy in Poland. From the outset, our goal has been not only to develop an offshore wind farm, but also to support the creation of long-term industrial and operational capabilities around the entire sector. We see significant potential in Polish companies and want local businesses to play an active role in the development, construction and long-term operation of offshore wind projects in Poland,” said Kacper Kostrzewa, Managing Director of Ocean Winds Poland.
“We are proud to participate in the BC-Wind project and support the development of offshore wind infrastructure in Poland. This investment represents an important step towards strengthening local capabilities and building the sector’s long-term potential. We will make every effort to deliver the project in line with the highest standards of quality and safety,” said Konrad Murzyński, President of the Management Board of Przembud Gdańsk S.A.
Focus on Local Content
The project is also a clear example of Ocean Winds’ commitment to developing the local supply chain and maximising the involvement of Polish companies. The construction of BC-Wind includes numerous Polish businesses across different stages of the project. The offshore substation is being built at a shipyard in Gdynia, while the onshore substation, grid connection infrastructure and cable manufacturing contracts have been awarded entirely to Polish companies. In addition, the project will utilise both Polish installation ports during the installation phase. For its contribution to the development of Poland’s offshore wind sector and local supply chain, Ocean Winds has received several industry awards this year.
The O&M base will be located approximately 37 km from the BC-Wind wind farm and will serve as the project’s main logistics and service hub. A Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) journey between the port and the offshore wind farm will take around 70 minutes. The construction permit for the facility was issued in January 2026. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2026 and be completed by the end of 2027.
It is estimated that around 30 people will be employed at the O&M base during the operational phase of the project. The investment will also create long-term business opportunities for local companies providing infrastructure maintenance, logistics and technical support services.
The BC-Wind offshore wind farm is Ocean Winds’ first project in the Baltic Sea. Located approximately 23 km off the Polish coast, the development will comprise 26 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines with a planned total capacity of up to 390 MW. The installation is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to supply nearly half a million households annually.
