The net profit of ZMPG S.A. for the first half of 2025 amounted to PLN 81.6 million — an increase of 19.4% compared to the same period in 2024. Overall, the Port of Gdynia handled nearly 13.1 million tons of cargo in the first half of 2025, of which 65% of the cargo structure consisted of general cargo. In this key segment, transshipments grew by almost 10%, reaching 8.5 million tons. This is a result of the dynamic development of ro-ro connections and the growing container volume, supported among others by cooperation with the Finnish shipping company Finnlines.

The net profit of Port of Gdynia Authority for the first half of 2025 amounted to PLN 81.6 million — an increase of 19.4% compared to the same period in 2024.

“The financial results of the Port of Gdynia show that the port’s long-term strategy, based on strengthening its universal character, brings optimal results. In the first half of 2025, EBITDA reached PLN 115.9 million, which is 9.8% more than a year earlier. Sales revenue increased by 4%, reaching PLN 182.5 million,” emphasizes Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spychała, Vice President of the Port of Gdynia Authority.

Positive dynamics were noted both in the container segment and in the handling of rolling cargo. The increase in freight unit volume was influenced, among others, by the inclusion of the Port of Gdynia in the weekly network of Finnish shipping operator Finnlines, connecting Finland with ports in Spain. This connection is operated using the company’s largest vessels — Finneco ships with a capacity of about 400 trailers simultaneously. Overall, turnover in the ferry general cargo and ro-ro group increased by 6.9% (+0.2 million tons compared to the first half of last year). Improvement was also noted in the number of freight units handled — 106,119 units were transshipped (+8.5% compared to the first half of 2024).

“The new ro-ro connection from Gdynia to ports in the Bay of Biscay is a response to the growing market demand for flexible and sustainable transport solutions. It is also a sign of trust from our partners and a confirmation of the strong position of the Port of Gdynia in the dynamically developing rolling cargo segment,” points out Piotr Gorzeński, President of the Port of Gdynia Authority.

In terms of container transshipments, volume increased not only in tonnage terms (+0.5 million tons, +11.1% compared to the first half of last year) but also in the number of TEUs handled (twenty-foot equivalent units). In total, the Port of Gdynia handled 536,198 TEUs, representing an over 19-percent increase.

The container volume growth is thanks to the launch of a new connection by the shipping company MSC – Mediterranean Shipping Company. The Port of Gdynia was officially included in the network of connections under the new Britannia service, which is a direct ocean connection between Asia and Northern Europe. The port also handles calls within the Gemini Cooperation service, an alliance of two major container carriers: Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd. Despite the ongoing reconstruction of the Helskie Quay, the Port of Gdynia achieved higher throughput in the analyzed segment.

Coke transshipments also recorded a positive trend — in this cargo group there was an increase of almost 6% compared to the period from January to June 2024.

Compared to the same period last year, the total transshipments at the Port of Gdynia decreased by 4.8%. Declines mainly affected grain and petroleum product transshipments. Nevertheless, the Port of Gdynia remains the leading Baltic port in handling grain cargo.

In the cruise ship segment, there is an upward trend compared to the same period last year. In the first half of the year, 18 cruise ship calls were handled, bringing a total of 46,291 tourists to Gdynia, which is an increase of 24%.
